The Michigan Department of Education has released two documents related to the World Language requirement of the Michigan Merit Curriculum:

World Languages Credit/Experience Guidelines

Of particular note is Michigan’s requirement for 2 credits of a world language:

Tonight I translated 16 microloans at Kiva – whew! I think one of the funnest things about translating at Kiva is the variety of vocabulary. Tonight I translated about embroidery, radiators, grocery stores, and chickens.
It could be interesting for a world language class to adopt an entrepreneur…
